Frari Church

Frari Church which was, with its monastery, the most important Franciscan settlement in Venice.

You will be taken to visit the magnificent Gothic architecture and have the opportunity to see its treasury of art: paintings by Paolo Veneziano, Giovanni Bellini and Titian, sculptures by Donatello and Sansovino, funerary monuments to the most important Venetian families of the past. Scuola Grande di San Rocco (confraternity of Saint Roch), founded in 1478 and dedicated to Saint Roch, protector against plague, with the purpose of giving help to plague victims.

The members of the Scuola di San Rocco commissioned a cycle of paintings to Jacopo Tintoretto.

Following the tradition of the painting decoration in the Scuole, he produced a large number of highly striking large-scale narrative paintings.

San Rocco school

The tour finishes at San Rocco and lasts about 2 hours.

For the visit of the church and the museum, suitable clothes are requested.

For security reasons sacks, bags or knapsacks are not allowed inside the church and museum.
